By Cynthia York-Camden MS, RD, LDN Fast food can be fit food in the morning. Try these tips for easy, fast breakfast foods to take with you. You may be able to freeze some items for easy grab and go.



  • Whole grain cereal (1 cup) in a snack size baggie with a piece of fruit.

  • Mix two cereals to create your own flavor. Try one with soy protein.

  • Whole grain crackers, a square of cheese and a piece of fruit.

  • Try mixing two types of crackers or adding dried fruit.

  • Oat bran muffins made using the recipe on the side of the oat bran box.

  • Freeze back and grab and go. Add a piece of fruit as desired.

  • Home made whole grain waffles, pancakes or biscuits with fruit or soy cheese.

  • Try new recipes with fruit or new whole grain flours.

  • Your favorite trail mix and a piece of fruit.


With just a little planning you can have healthy quick foods in the morning to keep you fueled for your day!
